10 Years: JP Walker

How could we end our 10-year celebration without hearing from The Don himself, none other than the inimitable and indomitable John Paul Walker. JP has always been at the forefront of progressive snowboarding but he never forgot that it's all about style, putting together some of the most face-melting parts in the history of snowboarding. So without further ado, enjoy this last 10-year questionnaire, see you in 2020!

Where were you and what were you doing in 2000? Filmed for MDP's The Resistance in Utah and Whistler. 2002? Edited and directed the Nixon Jibfest Video. 2004? Filmed for MDP's Chulksmack in Utah and Minnesota. 2006? Filmed for Infamous Entertainment's THAT in Whistler and Sweden. Filmed for Life as a Movie surf video in Japan and Sumatra. Went on a skate trip in Barcelona and toured Spain and Russia for movie premiers. 2008? Signed with StepChild Snowboards, 32 boots and Outerwear and Dakine. Filmed for MDP's Double Decade in Utah and Whistler. Got my first cover of a major North American snowboard magazine with Future. Now? Just finishing filming for People Creative's new movie "Cheers". Went to Helsinki, Stockholm, Minnesota and Whistler. Going to Fiji soon for Nixon's High Tide Hold 'Em surf contest.

JP''s part in this video was ground-breaking, with crazy gap outs onto rails and switch radicalness galore

Worst bail in 10 years?

Broken jaw.

Anyone that is still famous now that should have been left at the millenium door?

I would like to name a lot of peeps but I'll fall back on this one.

What music were you listening to in 2000 and do you still listen to it today?

Lots of Wu-Tang. Still bump it but not as often. The new Cuban Links is tight though.

The guy who uploaded this decided that JP's smooth style would go better to some horrible nu-metal garbage, so do yourself a favor, lower the volume on this clip... ...and crank it up on this one to get the original effect

Worst move you pulled when you were wasted in past 10 years?

Haven't been wasted in over 15 years.

If you could have lived in a different era, which would it be?

The 60' and 70's would have been fun.

Favorite movie of the past decade?

All my favorite stuff is from the decade before, sorry guys. Nothing beats the old stuff I used to watch that got me hyped to snowboard.

Did you ever see Method Mag on VHS?

Can't say that I did but I am from the VHS era.

Broken jaws are gnarly...

Any funny nicknames you got tagged with the past decade that you managed to shake?

None. (Editor's note: Not even The Don?)

What do have to say to Method for surviving alcohol poisoning for a decade?

It's a commendable achievement.

Would you like thank snowboarding for anything?

For everything, an unlimited number of thank you's.

How does your bank account compare to what it looked like 10 years ago?

A few more zero's maybe?

Top 3 who's who of snowboarding in the last 10 years?

Jeremy Jones, Eero Ettala, Shaun White.

Who's video part do you wish was yours in the last 10 years?

Seth Huot's part in Nice Try.

After 10 years, what sensitive information can you declassify?

Even after 10 years it's something that can't be said. It's in the vaults for a long time unless you are privileged. Has something to to do with one's orientation.

Full part... SWITCH, bitch!

I would have, could have, should have...

Tried that trick one more time.

What has drastically changed that would be hard for kids to believe these days?

Being a sell out was something that actually mattered and affected your credibility as a shred.

This is a little bonus, make sure you buy a copy of the new People flick, it's gonna be super sweet. Like, diabetic.
