Snowboarding in Russia doesn’t stay still. Every year we see more young riders sending it straight into the pages of famous European snowboard magazines, enormous camps involving top riders and new tricks that never been done before, plus there is a huge progress in park construction and shaping. The last point is also very important because while looking through the edits from the famous Super-Park or mega-creative Peace Park, every Russian snowboarder wants to get into a place like this most of all.
In the middle of Russia, next to the small city Miass, a group of enthusiasts – including the team of professional shapers – finally decided to make their own unique project idea come true. So, at the very end of the season, collecting all the snow that didn’t melt, they put all their skills and energy to realise the project. They created an unreal snowpark with a huge number of non-trivial and interesting features for all different levels and spots for every kind of rider. This is the first high-level project in Russia of such a scope, and in my opinion, it’s successfully done.
All the cards were dealt, so we played the hand. The weather was brilliant, the sun was shining, the spring slushy snow was all around with perfectly shaped features. What else can you dream of?! The best group of riders, all invited from different parts of Russia started to kill the park. I can’t explain the atmosphere and emotions we felt while staying and riding at this camp, but it was something special. Just check my photo-report straight From Russia With Love. - Evgeny
