Oivind Fykse Engelshion is a little Norwegian wizard that toys with gravity and brings some serious heat to the streets. Riding his first year for Rough Snowboards, he put on a good enough show to snag the closing part for "When the Going Gets Rough". Check out the full part and see what all the noise is about then enjoy our little chat with this stuntman who overdoses on Vitamin G on the regular!
Filming with them was awesome. Marco is a crazy dude with a lot of filming skills but right before someone drops in on a spot he looks really stressed out. It's really funny. He should have his own filmer that films him because he is a funny guy!
What do Italians say a lot?
They say a lot of stupid stuff, that's for sure. But what I heard the most was "nonono", "catzo" and "whoopaa!". Just imagine an Italian dude saying "whoopaa!" every time someone stomps a trick. Haha, crazy-ass Italians!
How much vitamin G did you take a day to land those gangster tricks?
I AM vitamin G! People usually call me that.
Can you spin more off a rail than off a jump?
It depends on the size of the jump! What grabs have you been thinking of trying to do in or out of a rail?
I can imagine there's going to be a lot of melon grabs this winter. I like that grab a lot and the name as well. So tits!
What is the "rough" part about snowboarding?
I think almost everything is kind of rough when it comes to snowboarding. Whether you do a BS lipslide on a cool spot in the streets or if you do triples on the jumps, it's rough. You decide.
How many times did you try that hardway cab 360 gap to down for the closer of your part?
I gave that about 10 tries. It was a hard one. I tried a few more times after I landed it to get it better, you know. I'm always like that!
Does it matter how many times someone tries a trick in a video part?
Yes it does, not for the audience, but for yourself. If you only needed a few tries and nailed it early you will remember the session as a hella tight one. What I'm saying is that it does matter, for sure. Anyway, when you land your tricks early the word gets around. The grapevine, you know!
Do you think it should flash "FIRST TRY" on the screen in the edit when it is a first try?
That would be sick, but snowboarding is not about if a trick was first try or not. It's about shredding and having fun. If every edit had a flashing light that said first try" every time it would get a little bit weird. Then it would be more of a contest than just shredding. There's no point in bragging about it!
What is a song you always wished you you could have an edit to?
I always wanted to use "Feel Good Inc." by the Gorillaz in a jump edit but I never make jump edits! So that's a goal for this winter, make a jump edit with this track.
