Raewyn Reid will respond to nearly anything you call her: Raymond, Ray-weirdo, Razor, Ray, and the list goes on. No matter what you call her, or how badly you mangle her name, one thing will always be clear: Raewyn charges, homegirl destroys every terrain, from the backcountry to big park jumps to urban handrails. She is a powerhouse who always has a smile on her face and is one of the most approachable people in the snowboard industry. Make sure to check her out in the new release Stance which is coming out this fall, she is expected to have a standout part.
How has your life changed since you won Women's Rookie of The Year at the Transworld Riders Poll this year? By the way your video acceptance speech was awesome. I don't think that I have ever seen your head quite that big before.
Thanks, I filmed that in my friend's basement two days before the Transworld awards. I couldn't make it down this year so that sucked but I was really stoked I even got nominated. I wouldnt say that my life has changed a lot, I have definitely gotten a lot more exposure since, but for the most part it's same-o same-o.

I remember talking to you in March and April and you were always super busy filming. I also heard someone say that those were your only two months to film, and that you ended up with more footage than everyone else. What is the true story?
Yeah, aside from a five-day trip to Montreal in January, and a week-long trip to interior BC, my start date for filming was the first day of Ms. Superpark. I was on a pretty serious time constraint so I really buckled down and ended up with a video part and I am super stoked on that. As for having a lot of footage, I think I am pretty even steven but I guess we will see.
Bombs away!
Are most of your shots this year rails or backcountry? Are we going to see a range of your abilities this year?
I didn't end up hitting very many rails this year. By the time that I got around to really filming the only place that still had snow was the backcountry so I definitely spent a lot of my spring out there. It was a pretty serious growing year and I was put out of my element a lot but I was really stoked for the experience. I hope to be back there a lot more this winter.

How do you spend your time in the summers? Do you go to the camps at all? What do you do when you're not snowboarding?
This summer I spent a month coaching up on Blackcomb glacier in Whistler. After that I have mostly been relaxing and enjoying my summer. I also plan to do a fall semester at the art college here in Calgary so I have been preparing for that a little bit too.
How do you usually spend your pre-season?
This will be my first year going back to school and I think it is going to be a little bit weird being back. This fall I just plan to focus on that and hopefully do a few premieres too, I think between those two things I will be pretty busy. It will be December before I know it and school will be done for the winter.

What is your biggest goal for this coming season? What can we expect from you? Any double corks or other top secret tricks you are working on?
Tip-top secret, haha. No, I just hope to spend a lot of time in the backcountry working on getting better at shredding pow. I gained a whole new respect for that side of snowboarding this spring, and it's something I would really like to be half-decent at one day.
This friendly face has a mean ride.
Do you have any sponsors that require you to tell us who you ride for or anyone you would like to thank?
Sheaaaa! Huge thanks to DC, Monster, Dragon, Pom Pom Wax, and The Source. Also big shout out to Pelosi and the biatches at MGT and the boys at JMills. And Kimmy, because she rules.
