Start of the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park season • New: Railgarden Lechnerberg
Let the show begin! With the opening of the Glacier Park, the 2009/10 freestyle season at the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park has begun. From now on, snowboarderscan enjoy themselves on the varied kickers, boxes and rails of the four lines at the glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn near Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria.
The Glacier Park is one of three parks of the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Parks and will be open until the mid of December. Then, also the Easy Park and the Central Park will open. At the moment, the Glacier Park on 2,900 metres above sea-level offers 13 features for beginners, advanced and pros. In the course of the upcoming weeks, more kickers and a quarter-pipe will be added as soon as the snow conditions allow. The Easy Jib Line offers beginners smaller obstacles like Flat and Rainbow boxes as well as two 5-metre rollers. The Medium Kicker Line comprises an 8-metre and a 10-metre roller, and the Hard/Pro Jib Line presents challenges like a 9-meter down rail or a 24-metre flat down box.
This winter, the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park once again will offer the full monty for all friends of rail slides, spins and airs: from October to June, snowboarders of all skill levels can enjoy themselves at the Glacier Park, Central Park, half-pipe, Easy Park and the new Railgarden Lechnerberg. The parks are designed by Mellow Constructions and will be shaped daily by the committed shaper crew on-site.
From mid December, the Central Park at the lower part of the Sonnenkarbahn will be ready on a snow-sure 2,515 metres above sea-level. 20 obstacles with rails and kicker leave nothing to be desired. Plus, the Central Park is situated close to the Volvo ICE CAMP which impresses its guests with a unique ice design, igloos and bars. The half-pipe will also be erected at the Sonnenkarbahn. The Easy Park at the upper part of the Sonnenkarbahn is the freestyle terrain for beginners and intermediates. This season, it will be extended by 50 metres to connect it with the Central Park. The 250-metre Easycross Line at the 8a slope offers four banks and five waves – perfect for kids and beginners! And at dawn, riders will meet at the new Railgarden Lechnerberg in the middle of Kaprun village.
