The man in the matching yellow hat and shirt delivering the box ran off like he dropped a bomb after I signed his clipboard for the unexpected delivery. Suspicious thoughts started to swirl in my mind of what might be in this medium sized box. I wasn't expecting anything. Maybe it was ninja turtle mask that never came for Halloween or did my mom finally find UGGs in size 46 for me? I sat down and sliced through the wrapping paper as delicately as a heart surgeon and then started to pull back the flaps. Suddenly, a horrific creature sprung out and tried to eat my hand! Well, at least I thought that is what the contents of the package wanted to do to me. But once I gathered myself and picked up the box that I tossed half way across the room I realized there was just a pair of bindings in the box. The attacking animal was just the graphic on the highback of the binding. I also found a note written in purple ink that read "Have fun with these this season! Sincerely -Eiki Helgason & Switchback Bindings." So apparently these were Eiki's new promodel. I had heard about these. They are supposed to be pretty wicked if you like to keep your riding loose and skate style since the highbacks are asymmetrical and almost completely flat (unlike the rest of the Switchback line).
I took a better look at these sweet puppies in the light and noticed the purple motif. I started thinking about how purple seems so familiar when it comes to Eiki. I mean he loves that color. I see him wearing purple clothes, purple sunglasses and riding purple boards. He must be related to eggplants or something. Look at all these images over the years where he refuses to be seen without a purple. Call me a conspiracy theorists if you like but it's pretty obvious something is going on here!

It's pretty obvious that Eiki wants to live in a purple world. Where everything is purple...
...you get the point. But then again who can blame him? Apparently purple was reserved for royalty in Roman, Egyptian and Persian ancient societies. Purple was a hard color to make and was made by using secretions from the Murex sea snail. Since it was rare, it was expensive, so basically if you were wearing purple, you we're important.
Not only was purple important on the outside, it is important on the inside. Purple "has a variety of effects on the mind and body, including uplifting spirits, calming the mind and nerves, enhancing the sacred, creating feelings of spirituality, increasing nurturing tendencies and sensitivity, and encouraging imagination and creativity." It is also the color of the crown chakra (Sahasrara) which is the seat of higher consciousness and the master chakra of the body. So maybe you should consider getting a pair of these bindings not only for their innate ability to make you shred with the imagination of Eiki, look like royalty, but also to help align yourself with the whole of the universe!
